Jedson Tenor Banjo

This is a 1920's unlabeled tenor banjo. The distinctive shape of the peghead is that of a Jedson, a brand of the Dallas Co. in England. The neck and rim of this banjo is made of maple and ebony. The hardware is complete and in good condition. The vintage nickel-plated brass tension hoop has ample thickness and is in good shape. The hooks are new re-issue replacements. The 20 brackets have original hex shoes with interior hex head screws. As common with hex shoes some of the tilt somewhat into the wood. The grover tuning pegs with black knobs are original and fully functional. The 17-fret ebony fingerboard has bone or white plastic dot inlays and the peghead is veneered with ebony. The scale length is 20 7/8" and the fingerboard measurement at the string nut is 1 3/16". The string nut is ebony. The maple neck has two parallel ebony lines down its center. The heel has an ebony cap. The rim has a matching set of ebony inlays. The tone ring is inset steel. This banjo has a 10 7/8" mylar head installed. A new adjustable tailpiece and bridge has been added. The action and playability is very good. Comes with a resonator.

Upon request, this banjo can be provided as a CELTIC TENOR BANJO at an additional charge of $20. The nut and bridge will be modified and a new set of Irish Tenor Strings (.014 .024w .032w .042w) will be installed.
