Fiberskyn Figured Maple Banjo
Item: A-119

This banjo has a maple neck and a Fiberskyn head stretched onto a low profile archtop metal alloy rim. It is ideal for clawhammer and has an excellent oldtime sound. It has vintage tuners and a convenient geared 5th tuner with vintage knob. All other features are modern and new. These include a maple neck with an truss rod, a coordinator rod which allows the neck angle to be adjusted, and a nickleplated tailpiece. The banjo is in excellent condition and is setup well.

The figured maple neck has a Gibson syle peghead with a well space nut and excellent action. The Rosewood fingerboard is bound and the frets are in excellent new condition. There are position dots along the side of the binding as well as pearl dots on the fingerboard. The neck is attached with a coordinator rod system which gives it a precise angle and good solidity.

The rim has an integrated 20 hole archtop tone ring. On the inside it is painted with a reddish brown enamel and with the addition of washers it has a vintage appearance. There are 24 brackets with hex-shaped shoes with flat hooks and small size vintage reissue nuts. The nickle-plated brass tension hoop is grooved. The head is new and the tailpiece is a nickle-plated brass Old Presto style.

This banjo plays just fine in a finger picking style with or without fingerpicks. It performs exceptionally well as a frailing or clawhammer banjo. The tone ring gives it a nice mellow but clear sound. It has very good action and plays quite smoothly.
